Pamela A. Owens-Beaty is the daughter of Chairman Harvey and Deaconess Mary Ann Owens of Marion, South Carolina. She is the granddaughter of the late Harvey and Viola Donnelly-Owens and the late Leroy and Louvenia Moore-Floyd. She has three sisters: Jennifer Gibbons, Cynthia Gause, and Angela Wall (deceased). Pamela also has two loving nephews: Shamarr and Jaiden.
She is a graduate of Marion High School, Marion, South Carolina. She earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees (Elementary Education) from Francis Marion University, Florence, South Carolina. She later earned a Master of Education degree (Technology in Education) from Lesley University and a terminal degree (Educational Leadership) from Cambridge College, both located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Pamela has been an educator for twenty-two years within the public schools of North and South Carolina. She has taught at the elementary and middle school levels and has served as grade-level leader for many years. She also served as a Professor in the Spadoni College of Education at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina and was also a district-level administrator in North Carolina. Pamela went on to become a member of the School Improvement Council and currently serves as a mentor to middle school students in the "Ladies First" program, which empowers young ladies by giving them self-confidence and the knowledge needed to be productive citizens in our ever-changing society.
Pamela is a life-long member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Marion, South Carolina where the Rev. Henry K. Phillips, Sr., is the Pastor. She has taught the Primary Sunday School class for the last twenty-eight years and Vacation Bible School for twenty years. After serving on the Usher Board for fifteen years and serving as Assistant Church Clerk, she then joined the Deaconess Board fourteen years ago and currently assists Chairman Owens in administering Holy Communion to sick and shut-in members. Pamela later became the President of Bethlehem's YWA and the Vice President of the Pee Dee District YWA as well as a member of the Pee Dee Baptist Association Banquet Committee.
Pamela is a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, New Hope #079 Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Palmetto State Teacher's Association, and various other professional organizations. She was voted "Best of the Pee Dee" in the teacher category in 2005 and 2006 by readers of the Florence Morning News during their annual poll. She is also a Notary Public.
