Sister Shirley Grace, Treasurer

Sister Shirley Grace, widow of Harold Grace, Jr., is the daughter of Deacon Roosevelt and Marie Roberts. She has three children: Gwynndolyn, Jared and James.

Sister Grace is a graduate of Eastside High School, earned a BS in education from Claflin College in Orangeburg, and received a biology certificate from Clemson University. She has pursued further graduate studies at Francis Marion University.

She retired from the Marlboro County Schools in Bennettsville as a biology teacher after 33 years. She was also the director of After School Programs for three years with the Education Station in Charleston, SC. Since her retirement, she is presently working as a WorkKeys Instructor and Tester with the Marlboro Vocational Rehabilitation in Bennettsville.

Sister Grace accepted Christ at the early age of twelve at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bennettsville where she was actively involved as Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School director, and served on the Senior Choir under Pastors Mack T. Hines and C. L. Bethea. For the past ten years, she has been a member of Maxwell Baptist Church (Florence, SC) and is a member of the Deaconess Board, senior choir, scholarship committee, newsletter editor, and is the Sunday School Superintendent under Pastor Daniel K. McCowan.

She is a former member of the Berea Association for 20+ years and the Sunday School Congress and Association where she performed as the youth director (10 years) and member of the pageant committee (15 years). After becoming a member of the Pee Dee Baptist Association, she gained certification as a Sunday School Teacher in 2014 and was elected as the assistant secretary for the Congress of Christian Education in 2015.

Sister Grace is the Parliamentarian for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., member of the Florence Alumnae Chapter, and the National Council of Negro Women – Florence Unit.
