Reverend Artemus Woods, Jr., has been preaching and teaching for over seventeen years. He is the Founder, Senior Pastor and Teacher of New Birth Baptist Ministry in Cheraw, SC. He is a graduate of Clio High School, Clio, SC. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Morris College and Masters of Divinity Degree form Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, NC.
Reverend Woods is actively winning souls for Christ and being an advocate in the community for young boys and families by providing leadership principles, values and goals to develop better men and maintain the stability of families.
Currently, he is a member of the South Carolina Baptist Education and Missionary Convention and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. He formerly served as an Executive Assistant to the President for the South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education, the Executive Board and as the Historian for the Pee Dee Baptist Association, and Executive Assistant to the President and Moderator of the Chesterfield County Baptist Union.
Reverend Woods was actively involved in the community where he served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Marlboro Infinity School, Long Middle School Task Force and Associate Member of the Sunday School Board. He is employed as a Chaplain with the South Carolina Department of Corrections, Bennettsville, SC. After realizing an additional calling on his life to serve his fellowman, he sought the office of Marlboro County School Board of Education as a board member. In November 2014, Reverend Woods was elected to the school board representing District 8. Through is godly passion. He is fighting for educational equality for all children in Marlboro County.
He was licensed and ordained to preach in July 2001 by Reverend Gilbert E. Wilson, Pastor of Sandy Grove Baptist Church, Bennettsville, SC. Prior to his ministry at New Birth Baptist Church Ministries, Inc., he was the Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC and the Nicey Grove Baptist Church, Jefferson, SC. He also served as Associate Pastor at Sandy Grove Baptist Church, Bennettsville, SC for two years.
Reverend Woods is married to Tabatha C. Woods and they are the proud parents of two sons, Artemus III (Trey) and Joshua (Josh) Woods.
Reverend Woods is dedicated to his mission and leadership of New Birth Baptist Ministries by equipping and empowering the church body and community with an array of benefits by advocating for a higher quality of life and reaching greater potential making a difference in the home, school, and community.
He continues to live and strive on the principles and values of the Christian Faith. His life verse is Philippians 4:13 (NKJV), which states "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
