Rev. Marshell McKever,

Reverend Marshell W. McKever was born and reared in Coward, South Carolina.   She is the fifth oldest of tweleve children born to Deacon Chandler & the late Bessie L. Williamson. Marshell was educated in the Florence County Public School System. In 1981, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Benedict College, and matriculated to Webster University and graduated in December 1991 to earn a Master Degree in Human Resource & Management.

She is currently employed with the City of Florence as a Codes Enforcement Officer. She has held this position with dignity and distinction for over thirty-seven years.   Her professional work at the City of Florence has been honored with many accolades including being chosen as Employee of the month in 1997.

She is an active member of the Olive Grove Baptist Church, in Coward, South Carolina. As a member of this holy institution, she serves as the Senior Missionary President, Past YWA Advisor, Teen Sunday School Teacher, Praise and Worship Leader, Deaconess, and the Pastoral Leadership Team. In addition, she is a member of the Pee Dee Advisory Board for UNCF, and she is the Assistant Recording Secretary of the Woman’s Pee Dee District Department.  

She is an active member of the Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star, where she was a Past Grand Associate Deputy, a member of Bright Light Chapter # 188 O.E. S. where she serves as Past Worthy Matron, and a past member of Crescent Court # 148 in the Oasis of Florence, South Carolina.

She is also the Past President of the Florence Benedict Alumni Club. She is an active member of the Benedict College National Alumni Association which have played an integral role in her life for over thirty years.   While at Benedict, she was a member of the Gospel Choir, and the Tiger Newspaper Club. 

She considers it a great honor and privilege to have served as the Recording Secretary and Chairperson of the Hospitality Committee of the BCNAA over the years.  What a blessing it has been to see so many structural changes to enhance the growth of the Association.  She continues to work hard with her smiling face to support her beloved alma mater.  

On April 25, 2021, she did her initial sermon at the Olive Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Michael K. Spears.  She is now serving as an Associate Minister of the Olive Grove Baptist.  On October 30, 2022, she was ordained by the Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Association. In January 2023, she was appointed to the Executive Board of the Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Association.

She is a lover of performing arts and can often be found at theaters around the city.  She enjoys good gospel music.  Her favorite artist is Tasha Cobbs.   In addition, she is an avid Bible reader, enjoys home decorating and working outside in her yard.   She especially enjoys the Christmas holiday bringing family and friends together for good food, fun, and fellowship.

She has two daughters Asian and Shannon, one grandson Jeremiah Cain and a son-in law Larone Cain.  Her mission in life is to become a Foreign Christian Missionary.
