Pastor George Bernard Washington, born in Florence South Carolina, the youngest son of the late Deacon Heyward and Deaconess Iciliene Carter Washington Sr. He is a 1975 graduate of Southside High School, Florence South Carolina; a 1999 honors graduate from Morris College Sumter, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry and was Listed in Who’s Who Among American College Students in 1999. He began his government career with the United States Air Force in 1975 culminating with the United States Postal Service. He is retired from the United States Air Force and in 2004 retired from the United States Postal Service Florence, South Carolina.
Pastor Washington works diligently with community youth. He has served many years as a volunteer Coach for the City of Florence helping youth to perfect their skills in sports. He served as Commissioner for the Florence Junior Football League; Board Member & past President, Florence Youth Basketball League; Vice-President, Florence International Basketball Association; and Board Member for the Florence International Children’s Games Committee. Pastor Washington has traveled extensively with youth basketball teams across the United States and Internationally to Bangkok, Thailand and Athens, Greece.
Pastor Washington many affiliations include: Served as Pastor of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church Marion, South Carolina 2017 to 2021; former Pastor New Saint Matthew Missionary Baptist Church Clio, South Carolina 2008-2015; former Pastor Pleasant Meadow Missionary Baptist Church Lumberton, North Carolina 2003-2008; Member of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.; Member of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. Congress of Christian Education; Member & Executive Board Member of the South Carolina Baptist E & M Convention; Certified Church School Instructor, South Carolina Congress of Christian Education; Member & Executive Board Member Pee Dee Baptist E & M Association; Chairman of the Marion Ministerial Fellowship Alliance; Member of Trustee Board Morris College, Sumter South Carolina; Past Vice-President and President of the Lumber River Baptist Association Ministerial Alliance; Past Secretary-Interdenominational Council of Churches, Lumberton, North Carolina; Past Member of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina; Past Parliamentarian and Executive Board Member, Berea Missionary Baptist Association, Bennettsville, South Carolina. Past Secretary and Vice-President, Pee Dee Baptist Association Brotherhood: Co-developer of the South Carolina Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention Brotherhood Bible Bee Competition; Past Youth Mentor in the State Attorney General’s Youth Mentoring Program; and Past State Attorney General’s Youth Mentoring Program Site Coordinator.
Pastor Washington receives his marching orders from “God Almighty” and firmly believes that “No weapon formed against thee shall prosper.” He is married to the former Garcia Thompson. They are the proud parents of two sons, Trenton, and Tevin and five grandchildren.
