Brother Michael L. Burgess is a member of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church where he currently serves as a deacon, Layman's department president, and the secretary of the Inspirational choir. He is married to Aurelia C. Burgess and has one daughter (Myeshia).
He graduated from Hemingway High School in 1986. He earned an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Logistics in 1999 from the Community College of the Air Force. In addition, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Limestone College in 1999 and a Master of Science in Management from Southern Wesleyan University in 2002.
He served in the United States Air Force for five (5) years and eight (8) months. In 1993, he joined the United States Air Force Reserve, then transferred to the South Carolina Air National Guard where he currently serves in the Logistics Squadron.
