Laymen's Department
Reverend Eugene Thomas, Jr. is the son of the late Eugene and Bertha Lane Thomas of Florence. He is married to Alicia Johnson Thomas and they have two sons and three daughters.
He graduated from West Florence High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Francis Marion College, and a Master of Divinity from Hood Theological Seminary. He served six (6) years in the United States Navy.
He is the pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Darlington, SC. He is the former pastor of Elizabeth Baptist Church, Manning, SC, and was print shop manager and purchasing agent for the McLeod Regional Hospital in Florence.
Reverend Thomas is a member of the Progressive National Baptist Association, National Baptist Association, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and is a board member and baseball coach for the Florence Little League. He also serves as Chaplain for the Florence County Sheriff’s Department, advisor for the Darlington Little League, and treasurer for the Pee Dee Christian Education Department of the Pee Dee Baptist Association.
