Reverend Michael K. Spears is the son of Kenneth and the late Mary Spears. He is the loving and devoted husband of the lovely former Mrs. Nicki G. Wright and together they have four children to whom he serves as the protector, provider, and mentor: Diamonique, Alexis, Traci and Rodney Grant. They are also the proud grandparents of Jamison Mikel.
Reverend Spears is a member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church, member of the Florence Branch NAACP, a former instructor in the Youth Division with the South Carolina Congress of Christian Education and is Certified Guardian Ad Litem for Darlington County. Reverend Spears also serves as the Secretary for the Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Association headquartered in Timmonsville, SC.
He acknowledged his calling to spread God's word in 2002 and preached his introductory sermon on December 14, 2003 and was licensed to preach by the Reverend Norman Gamble. On February 27, 2011, he was ordained by the Pee Dee Baptist Association, under the leadership of Moderator Reverend Dr. Ralph W. Canty. Reverend Spears is the loving, committed teacher and pastor of the Olive Grove Baptist Church, Coward, SC, where he has faithfully served since February 2011.
His favorite scripture is Psalm 121:1-2: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." He believes that if we would all continue to look up, then we will be able to come out of whatever it is that may have us bound. It is Reverend Spears' greatest desire to promote the building of Holy Spirit filled God focused disciples for the kingdom.
