The Reverend Charles R. Johnson served as pastor of First Friendship Baptist Church of Nichols, South Carolina served faithfully for thirty-eight years. Reverend Johnson’s educational pursuits include a Certificate of Ministry from Morris College, Bachelor of Biblical Studies and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Arkansas Institute of Bible Studies. In 2012, he was honored with a Presidential Citation from Morris College for exemplary service in community involvement and faithful support of Christian Education.

Reverend Johnson believes that his responsibilities are to meet the needs of his parishioners and those in surrounding communities through the involvement in civic organizations and church related activities. He has served as Chairperson of MC CAN of Marion County, Chairperson of the Grant’s Committee of the Marion County Health Care Foundation, President of United Fund of Marion County, Parliamentarian of the Pee Dee Baptist Association, Board Member and current Vice Moderator of the Florence and Affiliated Counties Union. Reverend Johnson was appointed to serve on the Town of Nichols Steering Committee for Disaster Relief following the Matthew and Florence floods. Because of his dedication and commitment in community involvement, he has received numerous other citations and honors.

As one of eleven children, Reverend Johnson is a devoted family man and he and his wife, Dorothy enjoy visits and family gatherings of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

One of Reverend Johnson’s favorite Bible verses is: “Also, I heard the voice of the Lord saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I; send me.” –Isaiah 6:5
